Short, because there is not much to say. Aurah sells nothing, measures nobody, and holds as little about you as it can. Where these terms are brief it is because the product is, not because something is being left out.
Using Aurah
You need an account, and accounts come by invitation. You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live. Keep your email address current — it is the only way in, and the only way we reach you.
You may stop whenever you like. Closing your account is immediate and unconditional, and we do not ask you to talk to anyone first.
What you write is yours
You own everything you post. You keep owning it. By posting you give Aurah permission to store it and to show it to the people you chose — nothing else. We do not license your writing onward, we do not sell it, and we do not use it to train anything.
Aurah is not responsible for what members write. The platform hosts what people say; it does not author it, endorse it, or check it in advance. If something here breaks these terms, report it and a person will look.
Conversations
A conversation on Aurah is text between two people, and only ever that. There is no voice, no video, no group thread and no file attachment. The one thing you can send that you did not type is a note already on Aurah, passed on to somebody you know.
Only the two of you can read it. Messages are stored so that you can read them again, and everything above applies to them: they are yours, they are not licensed onward, they are not sold, and they train nothing. We read a conversation only where somebody in it reports it to us, and then only what they reported.
There are no read receipts and no typing indicators, and there will not be. Neither is a feature we have not got round to; both manufacture the pressure this platform exists to be without.
What we ask of you
Do not post anything unlawful. Do not harass anyone. Do not use Aurah to advertise, to scrape, or to automate accounts. Do not try to break the thing.
We can suspend or close an account that does. Where we can, we will say why.
Paying
Aurah is paid for by the people who use it, which is the whole reason it can refuse advertising. You can cancel whenever you like; your account stays readable and your posts stay where they are.
What we hold about you
Your name, your handle, your email address, whatever you have written, and whatever you have uploaded. That is the list.
There is no advertising, no tracking, no third-party analytics, and no profile of you assembled anywhere. Nothing about you is sold or shared for money, and nothing ever will be — that is not a policy we could reverse without abandoning what the platform is for. For readers in California: we do not sell or share personal information, in any sense of those words.
Who else touches it
Two companies, both acting only on our instructions:
Google Firebase holds your account credentials and the photographs you upload. Sign-in and file storage run through it.
Resend sends the emails — the sign-in link, and a note when someone asks to know you.
That is the complete list of processors. There is no analytics provider, no advertising network, and no data broker.
Cookies
Two, and neither watches you. One keeps you signed in. One records your time zone so that "yesterday" means yesterday where you are. Both are necessary for the site to work, which is why there is no consent banner asking permission for them — there is nothing here to consent to. We set no advertising or analytics cookies at all.
Your rights over your data
Wherever you live, you can ask us for a copy of what we hold, correct anything wrong, or have it erased. Erasure is immediate and unconditional — we do not keep a shadow copy, and we do not make you explain.
If you are in the UK or EU: we process your data to provide a service you asked for, and, where you have given it, on your consent. You may object, restrict processing, take your data elsewhere, or complain to your data protection authority.
Write to hello@aurah.social and a person will answer.
Changes
If these terms change in a way that matters, we will say so on the site before it takes effect, rather than updating a date quietly and hoping.
